NY Governor Cuomo: New York will be the ‘biggest travel ban ever’
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday said he would be implementing a “travel ban” on travelers from certain Muslim-majority countries.
The move comes after Trump signed an executive order last week, which barred immigration from seven majority-Muslim countries from entering the US.
Cuomo said the ban would be “a new beginning,” as it was “time to start anew and build on what we’ve already started.”
Cuomo told reporters he had spoken with the president.
“The president has said he wants to focus on making America great again, so I will.
And the big thing is to make America great for the American people and make sure that we’re safe and have the best opportunity to be successful,” he said.
Cuomos predecessor, Democratic Gov.
Andrew Cuomo, imposed a travel ban on Syrian refugees in 2014, but it was struck down by a federal judge.
Trump has argued that the ban was needed to stop terrorists from entering America.
